Preferred PR in action - a case study
The Skywalk
Grand Canyon West developed The Skywalk, a glass bridge extending 70 feet over the canyon’s edge, hoping to increase visitors to one million per year to its remote location. PPR was hired to increase awareness for the destination as a whole and publicly launch The Skywalk. We strategically used the international media interest in The Skywalk to draw attention to the entire destination. We crafted announcements, story angles and media opportunities for each phase of the construction process, and executed a launch event, press conference and “First Walk” with astronaut Buzz Aldrin to garner maximum international press. Grand Canyon West is now welcoming 3,000 visitors per day, employment opportunities more than doubled for tribal members, and they have expanded operations to meet growing demand. The Skywalk continues to be prominently featured in some of the world’s most recognized media outlets.
